Are clear aligners a good option if I live in Seoul?
Yes, for mild to moderate crowding, gaps and selected bite problems. Clear aligners are custom removable trays worn 20 to 22 hours a day and changed every 1 to 2 weeks. At Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic, Dr. Kim Do-hoon plans treatment and checks progress every 6 to 10 weeks. Typical treatment lasts 6 to 24 months.

How clear aligners straighten teeth
Clear aligners are thin, transparent trays made from a digital scan of your teeth. The orthodontist plans the full tooth movement on screen, and each tray moves the teeth a fraction of a millimetre. Invisalign is one well-known system; see our Invisalign in Seoul page for brand-specific details.
Because they are removable, you eat normally and brush and floss as usual. That is the main day-to-day advantage over fixed braces.
Why living in Seoul makes aligners easier
Aligners work best with regular check-ups to confirm the teeth are tracking and to bond or adjust attachments. Living in Seoul means you can attend each visit at our orthodontic floor, Building 3, 8F, 442 Gangnam-daero, and refinements can be scanned promptly if needed.
- Visits fit around work: usually short check-ups every 6–10 weeks
- Lost or broken trays can be reviewed quickly
- Refinement scans can be taken in person without delay

Aligners are not right for every bite. Large rotations, significant vertical problems and some extraction cases are usually more predictable with fixed appliances such as Clippy-C self-ligating braces.
If you know you will struggle to wear trays most of the day, fixed braces remove that compliance risk.
Travelling to Korea for aligners
Aligners are the most travel-friendly orthodontic option because trays are planned in advance and several sets can often be given at once. Fixed braces, by contrast, need a wire adjustment every 4 to 8 weeks, which rarely works for overseas patients.
Even so, orthodontics is not a one-trip treatment. Teeth must be checked to confirm they are following the plan, and refinements need a new scan. Be honest with yourself about how often you can return to Seoul.
- Good fit: mild crowding or spacing, regular trips to Korea, ability to wear trays 20–22 h/day
- Harder fit: complex bites, extractions, or no chance of returning for months
- Discuss on WhatsApp before booking flights
What happens before and during your trip
Send clear smile photos and any recent X-rays on WhatsApp. The team replies in English, Chinese, Japanese or Korean with an initial view and what the visit will involve. In Seoul, the first visit at Building 3, 8F, 442 Gangnam-daero, covers scans, X-rays and a consultation with Dr. Kim Do-hoon.
After digital planning, a second visit fits attachments and the first trays. Allow time between these visits in your itinerary; the team confirms timing when you book.
Follow-up when you go home
Plan your return trips at the start, not halfway through. Ask how many tray sets you will leave with and when the next in-person check is due. Keep wearing trays as instructed and send progress photos on WhatsApp if asked.
