What is an OSSTEM dental implant?

An OSSTEM implant is a titanium screw made by the Korean manufacturer OSSTEM Implant. It is placed in the jawbone to replace a tooth root, then topped with an abutment and crown. Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic uses OSSTEM implants with 3D CT planning and, when bone quality allows, immediate (same-day) loading of a temporary tooth.

Why patients ask for OSSTEM implants

OSSTEM is a Korean implant system used in many clinics in Korea and abroad. Because it is so common, compatible abutments and replacement parts are widely available, which helps if you need maintenance after returning home.

At Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic, OSSTEM is one of two implant systems we place, alongside MegaGen implants. Your surgeon chooses the fixture size and design after reviewing your 3D CT scan, not from a catalogue.

  • Titanium fixture with a surface designed for bone integration
  • Wide range of diameters and lengths for different bone conditions
  • Parts widely available for long-term maintenance
  • Compatible with zirconia and all-ceramic crowns

How we plan and place your OSSTEM implant

Every case starts with a 3D CT scan and intraoral scan. This shows bone height, width and the position of nerves and sinuses, so the implant angle and depth can be planned before surgery.

Before placement, implant surfaces can be treated with PlasmaOne vacuum plasma. After the crown is fitted, Chief Director Dr. Kim Jin-hwan's team checks your bite with T-Scan Novus digital occlusion analysis, which records bite force in fine detail so the new tooth does not take excess load.

If bone is thin, a bone graft may be needed first or at the same appointment.

Crowns made in our own lab

Our in-house lab, Oneday Lab, sits on the 14th floor of our Startplex building. It uses CAD/CAM milling, so temporary and final prosthetics can often be made in one day once the implant is ready.

  1. Before travel

    Send X-rays on WhatsApp

Share any panoramic X-ray or photos. We reply with an initial view of your options and an estimate range.

  2. Day 1

    3D CT and planning

3D CT and intraoral scan, examination and a written treatment plan with final costs.

  3. Day 1–2

    Implant placement

OSSTEM implant placed under local anaesthesia or IV sleep sedation. A temporary tooth may be fitted the same day if stability allows.

  4. 2–4 months

    Healing

The implant bonds with the bone (osseointegration). Healing time depends on bone quality and grafting.

  5. Final visit

    Final crown and bite check

Final crown from Oneday Lab, adjusted with T-Scan digital bite analysis.

Things to know before you decide

  • Uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking or recent jaw radiation can slow healing and raise failure risk.
  • Thin or low bone may need grafting, which adds healing time.
  • Same-day loading is only possible when the implant reaches enough initial stability.
  • Gum disease must be treated before implant surgery.

FAQ

OSSTEM Implants: common questions

Is OSSTEM a good implant brand?
OSSTEM is a well-established Korean implant system used widely in Korea and internationally. Long-term success depends more on diagnosis, surgical planning, bone condition, bite control and your home care than on brand alone. Your surgeon recommends the system after reviewing your 3D CT.
Can I get an OSSTEM implant maintained in my home country?
OSSTEM parts are widely distributed, so many dentists abroad can source compatible components. We give you a record of the implant system, diameter and length used so your local dentist can service the crown or abutment if needed.
How many trips to Seoul do I need?
Usually two. The first trip covers examination, CT and implant placement. The second, typically 2–4 months later, is for the final crown. If you have more time, some steps can be combined; your dentist confirms the schedule after examination.
Does the surgery hurt?
Placement is done under local anaesthesia, so you feel pressure rather than sharp pain. IV sleep sedation is available for anxious patients or longer surgeries. Mild swelling and soreness for 2–4 days is common and is managed with standard pain relief.
How much does an OSSTEM implant cost?
Cost depends on the number of implants, crown material and whether bone grafting is needed. Our implant cost guide lists guide prices. Your exact cost is confirmed after examination; send your X-ray on WhatsApp for an initial estimate.
Can OSSTEM implants be placed the same day as extraction?
Sometimes. If the socket is free of infection and the bone holds the implant firmly, immediate placement is possible. If not, the site may be grafted and left to heal first. Your surgeon decides based on your CT scan.
