How does Invisalign treatment work in Seoul?

Invisalign uses a series of custom, removable clear trays, each worn about 1 to 2 weeks for 20 to 22 hours a day, to move teeth step by step. At Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic, Dr. Kim Do-hoon plans treatment from a digital scan and X-rays. Mild cases often finish in 6 to 12 months; complex cases take longer.

What Invisalign is

Invisalign is a brand of clear aligner system. The orthodontist scans your teeth, plans every movement digitally, and a series of thin plastic trays is produced. Each tray is slightly different, so wearing them in order moves teeth gradually.

Small tooth-coloured bumps called attachments are often bonded to some teeth so the trays can grip and rotate them. These are removed at the end. If you are comparing Invisalign with other aligner systems, see our page on clear aligners in Seoul.

Who is a good candidate

Invisalign works well for mild to moderate crowding, spacing, uneven alignment and some bite problems. Adults who want a discreet option and can wear trays consistently are typical candidates.

Severe rotations, large vertical movements or significant jaw discrepancies are often better handled with fixed braces such as metal braces, or a combined plan. Dr. Kim Do-hoon decides from your records.

  • Suits: crowding, gaps, mild relapse after past braces, selected overbite cases
  • Requires: 20–22 hours of daily wear and removing trays to eat
  • May not suit: severe skeletal problems or patients unable to commit to wear time

Living with Invisalign

Remove trays to eat and drink anything except water, then brush before putting them back in. Speech may feel slightly different for a few days. Each new tray usually feels tight for one or two days.

Because trays are planned in advance, several sets can often be issued at once, which allows longer gaps between visits than braces. Patients visiting from abroad should read clear aligners for international patients.

Things to know before you decide

  • Results depend on wear time; trays left out for long periods stall treatment.
  • Refinement trays are sometimes needed, which can extend treatment.
  • Attachments and trays can trap sugar against teeth if you snack or drink with them in.
  • Some complex bite problems need braces or surgery instead.
  • Retainers are needed afterwards to prevent relapse.

FAQ

Invisalign: common questions

How many hours a day do I need to wear Invisalign?
Usually 20 to 22 hours a day. Take the trays out only to eat, drink anything other than plain water, and clean your teeth. Wearing them less than this commonly means the teeth do not track with the trays and treatment takes longer.
How much does Invisalign cost in Seoul?
Cost depends on the number of aligners, the complexity of movement, treatment length and records needed. We do not publish a fixed price. Send photos and any X-rays on WhatsApp for an initial estimate; the final fee is confirmed after examination and digital planning.
Is Invisalign painful?
Most people feel pressure rather than pain. Each new tray usually feels tight for one or two days. Edges can rub the tongue or cheeks at first. No anaesthesia is needed to fit aligners or bond attachments.
Can Invisalign fix an overbite?
Selected overbite and deep bite cases can be improved with aligners, sometimes with elastics. Severe deep bites or skeletal problems often respond better to fixed braces. Dr. Kim Do-hoon confirms which approach fits after examining your X-rays.
What happens after Invisalign finishes?
You move to retainers to hold the result. Retainers are usually worn full time at first and then at night. Attachments are polished off. Without retainers, teeth tend to drift back toward their old positions.
