What types of dentures are available in Seoul?

The four main types are complete dentures, partial dentures, immediate dentures fitted on extraction day, and implant-supported dentures that clip onto implants. Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic designs dentures from digital scans in its in-house lab and can convert a conventional denture to an implant-supported one when bone allows.

Choosing the right denture

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. The right type depends on how many teeth remain, the health of your gums and whether you want something more stable than a denture resting on the gums.

  • Complete denture: replaces all teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
  • Partial denture: fills gaps while keeping your remaining teeth.
  • Immediate denture: fitted the day teeth are removed so you are never without teeth; usually relined after healing.
  • Implant-supported denture: clips onto 2–4 implants for far better stability, especially for the lower jaw.

Digitally designed, made in our own lab

We take intraoral scans and records of your bite, then design the teeth for shape, colour and lip support. Dentures are made in Oneday Lab, our in-house laboratory, so adjustments do not need to be sent away.

Our prosthodontists, Yoo Young-hoon and Kim Kang-min, lead denture design. Bite balance matters with dentures because uneven contact makes them rock and cause sore spots.

When to consider implants instead

Lower complete dentures often feel loose because the tongue and cheeks move them. Two to four implants can hold a denture firmly; see implant-supported dentures. For fixed teeth that never come out, see All-on-4 implants.

If only one to three teeth are missing, a dental bridge may be a simpler fixed option.

Conventional vs implant-supported dentures

Stability Rests on gums; may move Clips onto implants; stable
Surgery None 2–4 implants per jaw
Chewing Reduced for hard foods Much closer to natural
Bone preservation Bone continues to shrink Implants help slow bone loss

Things to know before you decide

  • New dentures commonly cause sore spots and speech changes for the first 2–4 weeks.
  • Bone under dentures shrinks over time, so relines are usually needed every few years.
  • Partial dentures rely on remaining teeth, which must be kept healthy.
  • Conventional lower dentures can remain loose for some patients; implants may be advised.

FAQ

Dentures: common questions

How long does it take to get dentures in Seoul?
Conventional dentures typically take 3–5 visits over about 2–4 weeks. Because our lab is in-house, some steps can be shortened for visitors. Immediate dentures are prepared before extraction and fitted the same day. Your dentist confirms the timeline after examination.
Can I convert my current denture to an implant denture?
Often, yes. If your existing denture fits well, it can sometimes be modified to clip onto new implants. Otherwise, a new denture is made. A 3D CT scan shows whether there is enough bone for implants.
Will dentures change how I speak or eat?
Most people notice changes in speech and chewing for the first few weeks. Reading aloud and starting with soft foods cut into small pieces helps. Implant-supported dentures usually feel more secure and allow a wider range of foods.
How much do dentures cost?
Cost depends on the type of denture, number of teeth replaced and materials, and whether implants are added. Send photos or an X-ray on WhatsApp and we will reply with an estimate range; the final cost is confirmed after examination.
How do I care for dentures?
Remove and brush them daily with a soft brush and non-abrasive cleaner, soak them overnight, and brush your gums and remaining teeth. Have the fit checked yearly, because the gums and bone change shape over time.
