What does a family dentist in Seoul provide?

A family dentist provides routine care for all ages: check-ups, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions and advice for children's teeth. Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic has 13 dentists across five departments, so if a family member needs gum treatment, oral surgery, orthodontics or implants, they can be referred within the same clinic. Inquiries are handled on WhatsApp in four languages.

Everyday dental care under one roof

Most family dental needs are routine: a check-up, a dental cleaning, a small cavity needing a filling, a sensitive tooth or an infected tooth needing a root canal. The integrated dentistry team, including Dr. Choi Jae-woong, Dr. Yang Sung-eun, Dr. Park Jung-ho and Dr. Kang Hee-yoon, handles general care for adults and children.

When a problem goes further, the clinic's other departments are in the same Gangnam location: oral & maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics and orthodontics. That avoids sending your family to separate clinics for each step.

  • Check-ups, X-rays and dental cleaning
  • Tooth-coloured fillings for cavities
  • Root canal treatment and crowns
  • Tooth extractions and wisdom teeth
  • Night guards for grinding and TMJ assessment
  • Children's check-ups and early orthodontic evaluation

For expat families and visitors

Many families living in or visiting Seoul want a dentist who explains treatment in their language. The team responds in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and all inquiries go through WhatsApp, so you can send photos, X-rays or questions before deciding to visit.

For children, early check-ups focus on prevention: fluoride, sealants and monitoring how adult teeth erupt. See our pediatric dentistry page for details.

Not sure if this is right for you? Send a photo or X-ray — a dentist replies on WhatsApp in English, Chinese or Japanese.

When general care becomes specialist care

A family dentist should know when to refer. Deep gum pockets go to the periodontics team, impacted wisdom teeth to oral surgery, missing teeth to the implant and prosthodontic teams, and crowded teeth to orthodontics led by Dr. Kim Do-hoon.

Because records, X-rays and 3D CT scans stay in one clinic, the next dentist sees the full history without repeating tests unnecessarily.

Step by step

How it works at Oneday Dental

  1. Before

    Message on WhatsApp

Tell the team who needs care, their ages, symptoms and preferred language. Send photos or old X-rays if you have them.

  2. Visit 1

    Examination and X-rays

Each family member is examined. Digital X-rays and, when needed, 3D CT show cavities, infections and gum health.

  3. Visit 1

    Clear plan and estimate

The dentist explains findings, options and an estimate for each person, and what is urgent versus what can wait.

  4. Same or next visit

    Treatment

Cleanings and small fillings can often be done the same day. Larger treatment is scheduled around your family's timetable.

  5. Every 6–12 months

    Recall

Regular check-ups catch small problems early, when treatment is simpler and less costly.

Things to know before you decide

  • Not every treatment can be done in one day; root canals, crowns and gum therapy usually need several visits.
  • Very young or anxious children may need a short familiarisation visit before treatment.
  • Some medical conditions or medications, such as blood thinners, need to be shared before treatment.
  • Korean national health insurance coverage depends on eligibility; ask the team what applies to you.

FAQ

Family & General Dentistry: common questions

Do you treat both children and adults?
Yes. The clinic provides general care for children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Children's visits focus on check-ups, prevention and cavity treatment, and early orthodontic evaluation is available through the orthodontics department. Parents can often be seen during the same trip, so the whole family's care is coordinated in one place.
Do your dentists speak English?
The clinic communicates in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. All inquiries are handled through WhatsApp at +82-10-5298-2875, so you can explain your situation in writing and send photos before your visit. There are no phone bookings or online forms; WhatsApp keeps a written record of everything agreed.
Can I book appointments for several family members together?
Yes. Send everyone's names, ages and concerns in one WhatsApp message and the team will suggest back-to-back appointments where possible, so the family can be seen in a single trip. Bring any previous dental records or X-rays to avoid repeating tests.
Where is the clinic?
Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic has three buildings in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, close to Gangnam-daero and Bongeunsa-ro. Buildings 1 and 2 focus on implants and Building 3 on orthodontics. The team tells you which building to go to for your appointment when you book on WhatsApp.
What if someone in my family has a dental emergency?
Message the clinic on WhatsApp with a photo and a short description of the pain, swelling or injury. The team will advise how urgently you should come in and what to do in the meantime. For heavy bleeding, facial swelling spreading to the eye or neck, or difficulty breathing, go to a hospital emergency department first.
How long has the clinic been open?
The clinic was founded in May 2002 in Gangnam and has been treating patients for 24 years. It now has 13 dentists, five departments, three buildings in Yeoksam-dong and an in-house dental laboratory, Oneday Lab, which makes crowns and other restorations on site.
