Clippy-C Braces in Seoul
Clippy-C is a self-ligating bracket system that holds the wire with a built-in clip instead of elastic ties. Our Gangnam orthodontic department uses it for crowded, rotated and uneven teeth.

What are Clippy-C braces?
Clippy-C braces are self-ligating brackets: each bracket has a built-in clip that holds the archwire, so no elastic ties are needed. This means fewer parts to trap plaque and quicker wire changes. At Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic, Dr. Kim Do-hoon uses them for crowding, rotations and bite problems. Treatment typically lasts 18 to 30 months.

How self-ligating brackets differ
Conventional metal braces hold the wire with small elastic or wire ties around each bracket. Ties discolour, collect plaque and are replaced at every visit. Clippy-C brackets close a small clip over the wire instead.
The tooth movement itself follows the same biology as any brace. What changes is the hardware: fewer parts, simpler cleaning and quicker wire changes at each appointment.
- No coloured or clear elastic ties to stain
- Smoother surface around each bracket
- Wire changes by opening and closing the clip
- Same range of movement as fixed braces
Who suits Clippy-C braces
They suit most cases where fixed braces are recommended: crowded front teeth, rotations, spacing and bite problems including buck teeth. Patients who want fixed braces with simpler daily cleaning often choose them.
If you prefer something removable, clear aligners may be an alternative for milder cases.

The first few days feel tender, as with any braces. Brush around the brackets after meals and use interdental brushes. Food rules are the same as other fixed braces: avoid very hard and sticky foods.
Claims that self-ligating braces always shorten treatment are not consistently supported by research. Your treatment time depends on your case, and the orthodontist estimates it after examination.
