Who is a good candidate for no-prep veneers?

No-prep veneers usually suit healthy, well-positioned teeth with enough enamel and minor concerns such as small gaps, slight shape irregularities or some discolouration. Teeth that are crowded, protruding or already large often need some preparation for a natural result. At Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic, the dentist confirms suitability after a digital exam of tooth position, enamel and bite.

What no-prep veneers are

No-prep veneers are very thin ceramic shells bonded onto the existing enamel with little or no reshaping. Because the tooth is preserved, they are a conservative option, and treatment is often largely reversible.

Each veneer is designed around your tooth shape, enamel condition, bite and smile line. For a full comparison with conventional laminates and composite, see veneer types compared.

When no-prep works and when it doesn't

Adding material without removing any makes teeth slightly thicker. That works when teeth are small, slightly inward or spaced. It can look bulky when teeth are already large or forward, which is why the clinic's own videos stress that no-prep is a clinical decision, not a sales label.

In those cases, a minimal preparation of a fraction of a millimetre can give a more natural profile. Crowded or protruding teeth may be better aligned first with clear aligners.

  • Usually suitable: well-positioned teeth, sufficient healthy enamel, small gaps, minor chips, certain stains
  • Usually not suitable: severe crowding or protrusion, significant bite problems, extensive decay, thin or damaged enamel
  • Large teeth: minimal prep is often needed to avoid a bulky look

How no-prep veneers are planned in Gangnam

Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic plans veneers with Digital Smile Design, used at the clinic since 2015, and fabricates them in its in-house Oneday Lab with CAD/CAM milling. Bite contacts can be checked with T-Scan Novus, which matters for thin ceramics.

If you are visiting from abroad, the dental veneers in Seoul guide explains trip length and how to send photos for an initial opinion.

Things to know before you decide

  • Not every tooth can take a no-prep veneer; forcing it can make teeth look thick or protruding.
  • Edges may be harder to blend and can collect plaque if gum margins are not ideal.
  • Very thin ceramics can chip under heavy grinding; a night guard may be advised.
  • Strong dark stains may show through very thin veneers and may need a different approach.

FAQ

No-Prep Veneers: common questions

Is no-prep always better than shaving teeth?
Not always. Preserving enamel is a real benefit, but if teeth are large or forward, adding thickness without any reshaping can look bulky and affect gum health. A small, controlled preparation sometimes gives a more natural and longer-lasting result. The dentist explains the trade-off for your teeth.
Should I choose a clinic just because it advertises no-prep?
No. Whether no-prep is right depends on your tooth size, position, enamel and bite. Look for a clinic that examines you first and explains when minimal preparation would look better, rather than promising no-prep for everyone. Ask to see the digital design before deciding.
Are no-prep veneers reversible?
Often largely, because little or no enamel is removed. Removal still requires a dentist, and the enamel surface is treated for bonding. Treat the decision as long-term even though the tooth is mostly preserved, and discuss it with the dentist.
Do no-prep veneers need anaesthetic?
Usually not, because the enamel is not cut or only lightly polished. Patients typically feel pressure and cleaning during bonding rather than pain. If minor preparation is needed, a local anaesthetic can be used, and the dentist will tell you beforehand.
How much do no-prep veneers cost?
Cost depends on the number of teeth, material, design complexity and fabrication method. Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic gives an estimate after reviewing your photos and X-rays on WhatsApp, and confirms the final price after examination.
