What is a same-day implant, and who can get one?
A same-day implant is an implant placed, often straight after extraction, and fitted with a temporary tooth on the same day. It is possible only when the bone holds the implant firmly at surgery. Gangnam One Day Dental Clinic checks this with 3D CT beforehand, and its in-house lab makes the temporary tooth. The final crown follows after typically 2 to 4 months of healing.

What "same day" means, and what it does not
"Same day" refers to the temporary tooth, not the final one. On surgery day you leave with a fixed temporary crown or bridge, so you are not without teeth. The bone still needs typically 2 to 4 months to bond to the implant before the final crown is fitted.
The temporary is shaped to avoid heavy biting forces while the implant heals. You eat soft food on that side during this time. If the implant is not firm enough on the day, the dentist will choose a conventional healing period instead, which protects the implant.
- Immediate placement: implant goes into the extraction socket the same day
- Immediate loading: a temporary tooth is attached the same day
- Both depend on stability measured during surgery
Why our in-house lab matters for same-day teeth
Our Oneday Lab sits on the 14th floor of our Startplex building, one floor above the implant clinic. With CAD/CAM milling and 14 years of lab know-how, temporary to final prosthetics can be made in one day, so the temporary is fitted without sending work out.
Same-day loading is also used for full arches. With All-on-4 or a full-mouth reconstruction, a fixed temporary arch can often be attached on surgery day. Our published cases include 8 implants placed in 35 to 40 minutes and 15 implants in 1 hour, though time varies with difficulty.

You may suit a same-day implant if you have enough healthy bone, no active infection at the site, healthy gums, and a bite that does not overload the temporary tooth. A 3D CT scan answers most of these questions before surgery. Read more about the full range of options on our dental implants page.
- Adequate bone height and density around the planned implant
- No acute infection or large bone defect at the extraction site
- Non-smoker, or willing to stop around surgery
- Controlled grinding or clenching (a night guard may be advised)

How it works at Oneday Dental
- Before travel
Send X-ray on WhatsApp
The dentist reviews your X-ray or CT and tells you whether same-day loading looks possible.
- Day 1
3D CT and planning
3D CT and intraoral scan confirm bone volume and implant position. The temporary tooth is designed digitally.
- Day 1–2
Extraction and implant
The tooth is removed if needed and the implant is placed. Stability is measured before loading.
- Same day
Temporary tooth fitted
If stability is sufficient, a temporary made in Oneday Lab is attached, kept out of heavy bite contact.
- 2–4 months
Final crown
After healing, the final crown is made and the bite is checked with T-Scan Novus.

Korean audioThings to know before you decide
- Same-day loading is decided at surgery; if the implant is not stable enough, a temporary will not be attached that day.
- Biting hard on the temporary during healing can cause the implant to fail to integrate.
- Active infection, thin bone or a large defect after extraction may require grafting and a delayed approach.
- Heavy smoking and uncontrolled diabetes increase the risk of failure.
- Gum levels can change slightly during healing, especially on front teeth, which the final crown accounts for.
